Overall Dundee is usually the cheapest place to buy fuel and Stornoway is far and away the most expensive. Places like Edinburgh and Glasgow have plenty of fuel stations and the competition seems to keep prices in sync with the rest of the country. Aberdeen, Inverness and Stirling tend to see more variation.

"Another week, and another penny on the price of petrol everywhere. If you fill up your car once a week whilst doing he supermarket shop you'll probably see this trend for a while now. Last week the cheap unleaded stations were selling fuel around 109.9p if you were lucky, now its 110.9p. That is over £5 a gallon!

We have had some price submissions from Stowoway again where Diesel is 138.9p a litre. About 10p-15p more than the mainland, which is a bit confusing seeing as transport costs to the island are estimated to be only a couple of pence per litre of fuel. Sadly it seems (having spoken to the garages) that the oil retailers sell the fuel to them at these high prices.

We fully expect most of these prices to be OUT OF DATE almost immediately as things are changing so rapidly at the moment!"

"Massive jump in Scottish petrol prices this week with Unleaded going up 2.3p and Diesel up 2.7p. This is before the news of oil at $135 a barrel has had time to trickle through to the reported pump prices! Next week we expect to see similar rises unfortunately. There used to be some comfort that at least prices were cheaper than South of the border, but unfortunately Scotland has been catching up with England for some time and now prices are level pegging. Morrisons again is one of the cheapest, with Unleaded often holding at 109.9p. Morrisons seems to be the winner this week with the largest number of stations selling the cheapest fuel but overall the last month Asda has consistently offered lower fuel with a monthly average price of 107.5p, compare this to BP's monthly average price of 112.4."

"Our latest data shows the average prices now stand at 109.9p compared to the rest of the UK at 110.4p, this is up another 0.4p on last week and shows the relentless rise in petrol prices as oil still sits above $120 a barrel. It won't be long before the average Scottish Gallon of Unleaded petrol costs more than £5, and of course there are plenty of places where this is already the case. Sainsburies and Morrisons are still leading the way, with their stations offering the cheapest prices in all areas looked at".
